Annual Report 2005
The year of 2005 has been a very challenging and very positive year for Haiti Vision Inc. Against the background of insecurity, social injustice and a spirit of lawlessness which is prevalent throughout the country, our institution has worked very diligently to create a positive impact in our areas of intervention and through the grace of God to be a beacon of hope to our much impoverished nation.
2 additional regional offices in Bainet and Cote de Fer:
- Our presence triggers a positive attitude among the peasants. We motivate them to work and we assist them in their capacity of production.
- In those centers, we offer computer classes for our youth. We make copies of documents and we do typesetting as well for the population at very moderate cost. Such funds are used to finance other community projects.
- Thought our offices, we organize seminars to train teachers in the primary education level.
2 Christians worship centers in Bainet and Merger:
- Encourage people through the example of the Messiah to have reverence for the heavenly Father and to have compassion for our fellowmen.
- Encourage them to stay away from sexual promiscuity and moral decadence to prevent spread of diseases and protect our youth.
- Encourage them through prayer and bible studies to keep their Christian faith alive against all odds and not to fall to the spirit of despair, helplessness and anarchy.
More involvement in Agriculture:
- Acquisition of more land to increase production.
- Assist the peasants financially and equip them with tools to encourage productivity.
- Motivate them to get more involved in raising livestock.
- Through our peasant movement, we are repairing old roads and create new ones to facilitate access for the products to the market places, and to encourage other institutions to visit us.
- We are striving to revive the spirit of among the peasants, which is the philosophy of working together primarily for the profit of the community. Such practice is essential for our campaign of reforestation on the desolate mountains and to be able to work more lands belonging to the peasants, which could not have been cultivated otherwise because of lack of funds.
Opening of a community store in Bainet:
- To relieve the peasants and the population from different burdens.
- To give them access to different products at a very affordable price.
- To provide an economic stimulus in the region.
- Help with the payroll of teachers and with their academic formation.
- Assist the students in getting school supplies.
- Provide tuition assistance to students.
- Food distribution through the USAID project (IFRP)
- Help feed 16000 people a day in different cities.
- Serve about 4 millions meals at different food banks, schools and other public institutions.
- Bring a ray of hope, a spirit of revitalization and a deep show of community appreciation in the needy areas.
- A lesson of compassion for every one when a seed of hope is sown in love.
In Florida:
We assist some refugees by providing them translation and interpretation services for their immigration case. To find employment, we help them fill out the necessary forms and make the appropriate contacts in terms of referral. Sometimes, we do provide them with transportation. In our ministerial and social services we counsel many families to help bring some stability in their lives. Through prayers and bible studies we encourage them to keep the faith as they may be going through some hardships. The young ones are being motivated to stay in school and to take part in wholesome family recreational activities in order to prevent delinquency. Our radio program is one of the avenues that we use to stay in touch with the community, inform them, promote good moral values and entertain them.
